GPS receiver with fast auto-routing, voice guidance, large color display with touchscreen, infrared remote control, integrated world and Europe/Africa map plus USB interface. Well suited for all kinds of vehicles.
The GARMIN StreetPilot 2610/2620/2720 provides fast automatic route calculation, visual and voice guidance, is easy to use via local controls or infrared remote control, has a large, easy to read color display with touch screen, an extremely sensitive antenna, an integrated world map (overview) plus a base map of Europe, Africa and the near East. The StreetPilot 2610 has a slot for a standard CompactFlash (CF) memory module to store more
detailed information, such as local roads, restaurants and points of interest. The StreetPilot 2620 and 2720 come with approx. 2 GB of built-in memory and pre-loaded maps of all of Europe. The model 2720 is equipped with additional 512 MB of memory to store additional maps, a speech computer to announce road names and with a connector for an optional TMC receiver to accept traffic news. The StreetPilot 2610/2620/2720 provides navigation information outdoors, in a car, in a train or even
in an airplane (see MapSource examples).
Differences between StreetPilot 2610, 2620 and 2720:
All three devices provide basically the same functions and have nearly the same features. The main differences relate to memory and what is pre-loaded:

- Integrated 12 channel receiver with very sensitive built-in antenna, connector for external GPS antenna (external antenna available as an option).

- Model 2610: Slot for standard CompactFlash (CF) memory module type I and II
(one 256 MB CF memory module is included in the standard package. Additional modules are available as an option)
- Model 2620: 2 GB of built-in memory, all detailed maps of Europe pre-loaded and unlocked
- Model 2720: 2 GB of built-in memory, all detailed maps of Europe pre-loaded and unlocked plus 512 MB memory for additional maps
- Routing speed: 11.27 (see GPS Routing Speed for details).
- Model 2720 only: Supports optional TMC receiver which can be connected via the USB connector. Processes traffic news messages and re-calculates the current route if there is a traffic jam or blocked road ahead.
- Suited to be used in any kind of vehicles. Comes with power cable with speaker, dash mount kit with adhesive folie and a removable base with shutter for quick mounting and dismounting to easily remove the GPS receiver (seamless switching between cars, theft protection etc.), does not require any installation.
- Large, illuminated, easy to read LCD display with automatic backlight adjustment:
- Model 2610 and 2620: Dimension: 86x45 mm, resolution: 305x160 pixels, 256 colors.
- Model 2720: Dimension: 86x45 mm, resolution: 454x240 pixels, 65536 colors (WQVGA).
- Manual or automatic switching of the display between daytime and nighttime, based on time and the current position (changes the colors of the display between sunset and sunrise for more comfortable viewing) Daytime: bright background, nighttime: dark background.
- Water resistant up to approx. 3 feet (1 meter) for about 30 minutes (conforms to IPX7).
- Powered by an external 12/24 V power source, e.g. from a car's lighter (power cord included). 2 batteries type AA for infrared remote control.
- Short time to first fix (TTFF¹: approx. 15 seconds after a warm start, meaning there are valid coordinates of the satellites available, or approx. 45 seconds after a cold start, meaning there are no valid coordinates of the satellites available).
- Supports the following protocols for data exchange with PC: NMEA 0183 with 4800 Baud, GARMIN, GARMIN DGPS, NMEA 0183 V2.30, Text out, RTCM IN, RTCM/NMEA and RTCM/TEXT
