The following lists of changes are based on information provided by GARMIN. Changes or improvements which we consider important or especially useful are shown highlighted.

To view the current firmware version, complete the following steps:

  1. Turn on the GPS.
  2. Touch "Settings".
  3. Scroll down to the very end of the list.
  4. Touch "About".
  5. The system will display the firmware version at the very top ("Software Version"), the unit ID on the second line, followed by various copyright information.
  6. Touch "Back" to return to the previous page.

Each upgrade replaces the complete firmware in the GPS, which means you need to install only the version you wish to apply. There is no need to install any previous versions.


Changes made from version 4.40 to 4.70:

  1. Added support for G3 Marine Cartography.
  2. Fixed possible issue with dashboard when adding main menu pages.
  3. Fixed possible issue with smart notifications not displaying.
  4. Fixed temperature spikes in track log when powering down when using a Tempe.
  5. Fixed issue in-which Where To -> Coordinates was not able to be added to the main menu.
  6. Fixed potential shutdown for area calculations when device is set to Greek.
  7. Improved Connect IQ app support.

Changes made from version 4.20 to 4.40:

  1. Added support for Connect IQ 3.0.
  2. Fixed issue where some maps would not draw at high zoom levels.
  3. Fixed issue with GPS indicator on status page.
  4. Fixed issue where some highway and freeway map labels were being cut off.
  5. Fixed issue where some devices wouldn't wake up when in battery save mode.
  6. Fixed issue where elevation information could be missing from marked waypoint.
  7. Fixed issue where edit/reverse of a route would only be available after a power cycle of the device.
