The models of the inReach series support sending and receiving short messages and triggering an interactive emergency call to GEOS via Iridium satellites from every location worldwide.

Very robust hand held GPS devices with color display, buttons for easy operation, suited for all kinds of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, boating etc. Capable of sending and receiving short messages and triggering interactive emergency calls to GEOS via Iridium satellites from every location worldwide without the need of a mobile network (inReach subscription required).

The model inReach Explorer+ is additionally equipped with an electronic 3D compass, a barometrical altimeter, a G-sensor a pre-installed base map and topographical DeLorme maps of Europe, Africa and Middle East which support auto-routing.

- Barometrical altimeter for precise elevation recording², range -610..9144 m (-2000..+60000 feet); accuracy ±3 m (10 feet), resolution ±30 cm (1 foot)
- G-sensor.
- Wireless connections using BlueTooth.
Powered by built-in Lithium-Ionen battery, lasts up to 100 h or by an external 12 V power source, e.g. from a car's cigarette lighter (power cord available as an option)
Short time to first fix (TTFF³: approx. 1 seconds after a warm start, meaning there are valid coordinates of the satellites available, or approx. 30 seconds after a cold start, meaning there are no valid coordinates of the satellites available)

¹) In order to check the direction with a GPS, a minimal movement with a speed of at least 5..8 km/h (3..5 mi/h) is required. Where no movement is possible, a compass is needed.
²) Even though a GPS provides accurate elevation information, the value slightly varies continuously. A barometrical altimeter is therefore more accurate, especially when summarizing elevation changes.
³) TTFF: Time To First Fix, time until the first information about the current position is acquired.
