Firmware: V6.10 - V5.10 - V5.00 - V4.40 - V4.30 - V4.20 - V3.50 - V3.40 - V3.20 - V3.10 - V3.00 - V2.90 - V2.80 - V2.70 - V2.60 - V2.50 - V2.30

The following lists of changes are based on information provided by GARMIN. Changes or improvements which we consider important or especially useful are shown highlighted.

To view the current firmware version, complete the following steps:

  1. Turn on the GPS.
  2. Touch "Setup".
  3. Touch "System".
  4. Scroll down to the very end of the page and touch "About".
  5. The system will display the firmware version on the second row ("Software Version") and also the Unit ID further below.
  6. Touch "back" to return to the previous page.

Each upgrade replaces the complete firmware in the GPS, which means you need to install only the version you wish to apply. There is no need to install any previous versions.


Changes made from version 5.10 to 6.10:

  1. New feature! Added support for LiveTrack Auto Start.

Changes made from version 3.50 to 4.20:

  1. Added support for Strava Live Segments! To start receiving Strava Live Segments: Link your Garmin Connect account to your Strava Premium account, upload an activity to Garmin Connect so it sees you have the latest firmware, and sync with Garmin Connect through Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile!
  2. Increased maximum number of segments to 100.
  3. Fixed an issue causing segments be cancelled unexpectedly.
  4. Fixed an issue causing disabled segments to be enabled after updated leaderboard information from Garmin Connect.
  5. Fixed an issue where the auto pause feature was not correctly pausing the timer when the user stops moving.
  6. Fixed several general UI related issues.

  1. Improved connection stability with Garmin Connect Mobile and fixed sync issues.
  2. Made several improvements to course routing and general course experience.
  3. Implemented improvements for torque effectiveness, pedal smoothness, and cycling dynamics data. This includes a fix for displaying torque effectiveness and pedal smoothness data in summary pages for left side only power meters.
  4. Fixed several issues with data fields displaying incorrect data.
  5. Fixed an issue where the backlight time out was not being observed when the Edge is plugged into external power.
  6. Fixed an issue with the keyboard not being displayed properly while searching in the Course, Segment, and Workout menus.
  7. Added battery percentage to the Shimano Di2 sensor about page.

Changes made from version 3.20 to 3.40:

  1. New feature! Added Segment support. To use segments, go to connect.garmin.com to find or create segments. Then, connect the device to your computer via USB cable and send the segments to your device. Once your segments have been downloaded to the device, disconnect from your computer. Then press the folder icon > Segments to access the list of segments on your device. After sending segments to your device, simply go ride through them to test the on device experience!
  2. New feature! Added Edge Remote sensor support.
  3. New feature! Added Shimano Di2 sensor support with Dura Ace remote controls.
  4. New feature! Added Vector Cycling Dynamics support that adds data fields and data recording for Power Phase (PP) and Platform Center Offset (PCO). Visit sites.garmin.com/vector to learn more.
  5. Improvements to the elevation profile to fit the data to the graph and display upcoming elevation while riding a course or segment.
  6. Added a stop button on the map page. This button is used to stop a currently running course or segment and is only displayed if one of those features is in use.
  7. Added turn guidance and off course warnings settings for courses. These can be accessed through the menu button in the bottom right corner of the course list page. (Folder icon > Courses > Menu Button).
  8. Fixed uploads over Garmin Connect Mobile. Phone pairing information has been reset and will need to be setup again !
  9. Made several improvements to elevation profile zooming and scrolling.
  10. Fixed a shutdown when using 'Back to Start.'
  11. Added options menus to the Course, Segment, and Workout lists.
  12. Added file searching for Courses, Segments, and Workouts.
  13. Added Time Ahead/Behind and Distance Ahead/Behind as configurable data fields on all timer loop pages.
  14. Added the ability to edit segment map data fields.
