The following lists of changes are based on information provided by GARMIN. Changes or improvements which we consider important or especially useful are shown highlighted.
To view the current firmware version, complete the following steps:
- Press the Mode key until you see the main menu screen.
- Select "SETTINGS" and press the Enter key.
- Select "ABOUT FORERUNNER" and press the Enter key.
- The current firmware version will be displayed.
- Press the Enter key to quit the screen.
Each upgrade replaces the complete firmware in the GPS, which means you need to install only the version you wish to apply. There is no need to install any previous versions.
- Changes to work better with nRoute software.
- Fixed problem with deleting 'Older Than...' items in History deleting the wrong data.
- Fixed problem where time and distance alarms would repeat after turning the unit off and back on.
- Fixed problem where Autopause could continually pause and resume when set to certain values.
- Fixed Daylight Savings Time in Southern hemisphere.

- Fixed problem with Rest Time not getting added into Total Time displayed in AutoPause mode.

- Improvements to prevent some bad GPS locations from going into track log. This should smooth out the speed/pace graphs.
- Changed track point dropping method from 'time-based' to 'resolution' method. This method drops more points through corners and less on straight stretches.
- Made message banners seen while running timeout rather than require button press.
- Made the Up, Down, and Mode buttons able to clear message banners instead of just Enter. This allows users to clear message banners without fear of stopping the clock.
- Decreased lap banner time from 8 seconds to 6 seconds.
- Fixed problem where deleting the very first run would not delete the associated track, resulting in problems uploading to Logbook.
- Improved satellite tracking while first getting a fix.
- When saving tracks, now attempts to keep track points dropped at start and end of lap.

- Changed track recording to better support Logbook Software.
- Increased current run track points from 1000 to 3000.
- Added new 'Interval Training' feature to the Training Assistant. This allows users to setup exercise and rest intervals of both time and distance.
- Added Last Run Results page that displays data about the last run.
- Modified some of the message beeps to be easier to hear.
- Made minor correction in Marathon distance from 26.2 miles to 26 miles and 385 yards (42.195 km).
- Updated language translations.
