The following lists of changes are based on information provided by GARMIN. Changes or improvements which we consider important or especially useful are shown highlighted.

To view the current firmware version, complete the following steps:

  1. Turn on the GPS.
  2. Touch "Setup".
  3. Scroll down to the very end of the list by touching the down arrow multiple times.
  4. Touch "About...".
  5. The system will display the firmware version near the very top ("Software Version"), the unit ID on the third line, followed by various copyright information.
  6. Touch "Back" to return to the previous page.

Each upgrade replaces the complete firmware in the GPS, which means you need to install only the version you wish to apply. There is no need to install any previous versions.

  3. Delete the /Garmin/GPX folder from the handheld's mass storage.
  4. Update the handheld's software via Web-Updater and reboot the handheld.
  5. Reconnect the handheld to a computer and transfer your data from BaseCamp back to the handheld.

GARMIN Dakota 10 The GARMIN Dakota 10 is very easy to use thanks to its touchscreen and its user friendly graphical interface. It supports multiple languages and has an integrated base map. The Dakota 10 has 850 MB of built-in memory to store optional maps with even more detailed information, such as local roads, restaurants and points of interest. The built-in USB interface supports data exchange with a PC. In order to use the Dakota's auto-routing feature which computes a route from the current location to any destination, an optional map which supports routing is required, such as City Navigator Europe NT, see detailed description.
